An Arrest Is Not a Conviction
An arrest does not prove guilt. Prosecutors may decline charges, charges may be reduced or dismissed, and a booking entry does not reveal the final case outcome. A California record may later be sealed, corrected, or affected by a Penal Code section 1203.4 dismissal. An old copy can therefore misstate current status. Confirm the disposition with El Dorado Superior Court, the Sheriff Records Unit, or the California Department of Justice, as appropriate.
Treat every record you find as a starting point, not a verdict. Only the originating agency can confirm what a record currently says and whether it is still releasable.
